True as it may sound, if there is nothing better, the world will be content with the next best thing. And this returns us to the topic of all-powerful traffic. With the right amount of traffic, a sale will be effected. Online, what would be the way to obtain traffic? Yahoo built a gateway to online wonderland and it reigned supreme over most other websites. It was everything. Yahoo owned the traffic because it was a good concept. It was the equivalent of a mall in the real world. Free chat, etc., brought in traffic that repeated. For a while, Yahoo was synonymous with the Internet. Then came a spider, Google, with its storied array of search engines. A greedy indexing machine, it collated everything in a site, tags and all. And that’s how Page Rank ruled the web pages. Google search could quickly serve you more relevant results for any key phrase as opposed to excite or the other search engines. And it became the game in town.. People wanting traffic are now afforded a easy means of exposing their products. Adsense and Adwords and related services came to be the arena of online selling. Annoying banners gave way to unobtrusive text ads which gave greater information on a much smaller web real estate. Advanced concepts made it more capable. Social Networking sites got invented and momentarily it seemed that Google’s dominance as lord of traffic was being opposed. It seemed like an uprising of sorts as though the little people grouped together to have their own party. It might be concluded that the time of the Social Networking sites have dissipated, partly due to being subverted by Internet marketers. And it is mostly now used for internet marketing and we find our way back to Search Engines; they match would-be the curious and the window shoppers together more efficiently.
